A few days a ago my husband suggested I change the art work around the house. I was surprised. He is the one who likes things constant around the house. I guess we are having some roles reversals. Our collection of paintings/art works has grown a bit with family visiting from Australia and India. I doubt I am going to get to it anytime soon.

I Don't Know How She Does It

There is no better time to read this book than now. We have been passing the parenting baton every weekend. Last week I was out of town; next week dad's going to Vegas (again, for another conference) and I go to Virginia the following week. Well, single parenting is not that bad either. For you have supremacy and don't have to hear "Daddy said I can watch a show on T.V and then go to bed". When I say its bed time, it works like magic.

Breckenridge Colorado, July 2010

I was browsing through old vacation pictures on the computer and found some that I wanted to share with you all. Breckenridge is a popular ski resort in the Rockies west of Denver, Colorado. During summer, popular out door activities are hiking, biking, fly fishing, boating or simply walking up and down the quaint town.
Dad and son rented a tandem bike with the second one being a smaller bike attachment. My daughter and I rented individual ones. On our first trip, we biked around the Dillon lake. On our second biking trip we clocked 15 miles and biked along Blue river around the town, up until the foot of the mountains. Above is a picture of our trail.

My husband was is super proud of his new find. The Petrizio is located in one of the poshest neighborhoods of Dallas, the Highland Villages. Try to get there early for a nice stroll along with some window shopping amidst Jimmy Choo, DVF, Chanel and the likes.
We sat out in the patio overlooking the shops. There is a also a vintage theater that airs about three movies at a time.

Recommended Reading - Picture Books

There seems to be an upward trend towards weaning kids from picture to chapter books as early as possible. Almost like a desire to reach a milestone on target. Use of limited words and amazing illustrations is a sure proof way to instill imagination in young minds. I still love to read picture books, fairy tales and any story where good triumphs evil or stories with a moral at the end.

Work Outfits 101

Most of you know I took up a new job. Along with the new job came increased commute and frequent travel. I no longer have the liberty of a longer morning routine. There are some mornings when I am trying to get the kids ready for school, pack my bags and catch a flight. I spent some time working on my wardobe to get it 'Morning-Ready'. My goal was to be able to choose a random top, any bottom, add on a coat/cardigan and get out of my closet with in a reasonable amount of time.

How many decisions do you think I take in a day? The latest is whether or not to get my 11 year old a cell phone. Tough one, you would think. Really not. I tried hard to come up with one reason not to get it. I was unable to make up one; other than the fact that she is too young for it. Based on a couple of scheduling issues we finally decided get her a flip phone and upgrade it to a touch phone if she does not lose it for a whole year.

Spa Party

I gave a few options for my daughter for her upcoming birthday. Option one was to take her to the Taylor Swift concert in town, Two, was a sleep over and three was gaming arcade. It was a close tie between Taylor Swift concert and the sleep over. Finally the later won and a couple of girls came over for the sleep over.
The theme was a spa party. As the girls arrived, I welcomed them with a fruit drink made by combining freshly squeezed orange, pineapple and lemon juice, followed by a little snack. While you read this, picture Taylor swift songs playing in the background.

Happiness And Tea

I am back from Richmond Virginia. As of Thursday, the power companies were working on restoring power back but for most parts the city is back in action. I stumbled on the "The Happiness Project" in a bookstore in the airport. Its another of those I-re-discovered-myself-on-a-one-year-blog-project turned book. Don't get me wrong, the book is a good read. Most of all, I could associate myself with the book, almost every single line of it. As I was wrapping up the book, my head was soaring with inspiration and the back of my head was scanning through a plethora of topics that I could write about, ranging from "What Motivates You To Start The Day" to "How To Go The Extra Mile At Home, Just Like We Do Outside the House". By morning, I was back to myself. Who am I kidding!!! I am not one of those deep thinker-types, I like to take it easy, enjoy the moment and take pleasure in mundane things. I might change for the good later, but this is who I am right now. That also means you get a post on my latest obsession and not those deep thoughts that kept me awake at night.
